evaluation of my work
when taking my photographs i had to think where i would like them to be featured. when considering my subject is social documentary i came to the conclusion that none of them would be featured in a glossy magazine or a newspaper. its more likely that you would find them on posters, featured in galleries and in fine art magazines.
my work is not aimed at any one inparticular, although i would say its really for over 18’s as it contains some adult themes. but its for anyone who can appreciate what i am trying to achieve through my images.
in my work i show a variety of different social groups and some of the situations you would find them in. so far i have only featured a certain age group of 17 to 24 year olds, because this is the group in which i find most opportunity to capture personal moments. there are so many emotions in people of this age i find it translates so much more effectively.
i have shown different relationships in social situations between friends, lovers and partners. i have captured them in places that aren’t out of the ordinary
test shots
These are examples of my social documentary.
I will take photo’s like these but of a better quality and put the effects on them.
I will take the photo’s somewhere like this car park where there isn’t much going on in the background and therefore not drawing your attention away from the main focus: my photo subjects.
Maybe sat on a railing or a brick wall.
I want my final piece to look similar to this but without arrangement.
Practice Effects On My Test Shots
This is two images I edited together on photoshop to give a better idea of how my final pieces will look.
my plan
my plan is to take the styles of Helmut Newton and the idea of Charles C. Ebbets to recreate “lunch atop a skyscraper”.
A group of young people in modern clothing but try to make it moody by using black & white and other effects.
